EID in the sky - what an amazing trip!

25 families from across the Stepney Partnership took a trip on the London Eye on Saturday 26 September to celebrate EID. The families met at Redlands school to share food and play games, then headed out from Whitechapel to Westminster tube, and finally took a 'flight' on the London Eye.

Eid Mubarak from the Stepney Partnership

The Stepney Partnership would like to wish families across the partnership of schools a Happy Eid! We are celebrating Eid in the sky on Saturday 26 September. Families from across the schools are going on a trip on the London Eye, check the blog for photos and a report of the trip.

For those that don't know, Eid ul-Fitr or عيد الفطر is a celebration held by Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan and to thank Allah for the strength he gave them to get through this traditional period of fasting. Eid ul-Fitr lasts three days, and it is sometimes called “Lesser Eid” to contrast it with Aid ul-Adha, or “Greater Eid,” another major holiday for Muslims. The holiday is a time for fellowship, socialization, and good wishes, and it is celebrated with a variety of local traditions all over the world. Visitors to nations with large Muslim populations are often caught up in the celebrations, with shouts of Eid mubarak, meaning “blessed Eid,” ringing in the streets.

Stepney Partnership Logo

It is very exciting to have a logo for the Stepney Partnership! Families with children in Year 3 helped to create the logo in July 2009, and here it is in all its glory...

The new logo features elements of the all of the five Stepney Partnership school logos. The families chose the different objects they wanted in the logo, and chose the overall tree shape.

The new logo conveys the idea of learning outside the classroom.
