Stepney Partnership trip to the Tower of London

(written by Shanaz - staff member at Redlands School)

On Saturday the 31st of October, over 60 parents and children from Stepney Partnership schools visited the Tower of London.

The day started off with everyone gathering at Stepney Green Maths, Computing & Science College. Families created their own masks and played 'human bingo' where families were required to ask each other lots of questions in order to win prizes. The activity was a great way for everyone to get to know each other.

We made our way to the Tower of London. Getting there was very simple, as we only needed to get on the DLR from Limehouse to Tower Gateway. Once we arrived there, we were spoilt for choice as there were so many things to see! We saw the famous Crown Jewels that various Kings and Queens wore many centuries ago! They looked absolutely stunning, but unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take any pictures of the crowns. We also saw the big canons that were used to fight off the enemies. We even had some of the children being knighted by a King in the Tower during a show that was held for us visitors. How cool is that?

Overall, the trip to the Tower of London was great fun, as we all enjoyed ourselves. It was the perfect end to a good half-term break!
